Totally amazing video! Unfortunately, today it seems like a fairytale with sad end. I'll never understand why Dido stopped caring about her fans We waited 5 years so patiently for a new album and she gave us an amazing album that flopped hard due no/minimal promotion |

She's working on a new album. Just getting over the holidays. We don't know that she is involved in the decision at all. And to say she doesn't care... Sounds a bit premature to me. _________________

please, what kind of promo she did prior the release of safe trip home? one interview for papers and few radio performances. where were she when the album was released? how many perofrmances she had in uk? how many singles we got?
even in sony admited that she was the one who wanted "specific" promo and that the album was a way overshiped and underperforming.
After 5 years of absence, this is very disrespctful for me. |

Before we spam the boards with this, here is my final say which is really an opinion, like my above comment.
Some do not like high press, like me, and/or it could have been a test. Personally, my radio station played her single quite often, and other new ones were in several popular TV shows at least over here.
Edit- I prefer two new albums before a tour. Usually means more shows and a longer tour. _________________

What do you mean disrespectful? You feel like she didn't respect you because she didn't promote the album. That really doesn't make any sense. Promo is quite often the bane of artist's existence. All they want to do is make music.
What would extra promo have really done for you? Nothing. The only thing that actually is disappointing is the lack of tour but I understand why she didn't want to tour those songs. _________________

dusan: You watched that youtube video right? Did you take note when she was talking about how much she doesn't like the interviews etc? We are lucky she did any at all for Safe Trip Home because there are artists out there who flat out refuse.
Also that video is pretty good but it seems more a promo video for BMG. _________________

Agree with KaH.
It's so easy to overhype something in this day and age, which can be very dangerous to a product/company or individual who produced that product. A little off topic, but an excellent example. Windows Vista.
They bounced it out to a huge fanfare and almost claimed they'd saved the World from certain doom, only to come back a couple of years later and apologise because it turned out to be a complete disaster.
I have plenty of albums in my collection that had no marketing at all and to tell you the truth they are far better than the hyped up ones that I have.
With STH being an experimental album (that's now been confirmed BTW ) it would have been a huge risk to hype it too much. _________________
